Vice President Marketing Cali Bamboo; Co-Founder & Vice President Marketing, Cure JM Foundation

Tom has over 20 years experience leading marketing campaigns, branding, direct-response marketing and channel programs for Consumer and Business brands including Cali Bamboo, Toshiba, Qwest, Sage Software, Gateway Computers, Sprint, and Verizon. In his career, he has developed over 1,500 marketing campaigns using a mix of TV, digital, radio, outdoor, public relations, social media, online videos, mobile and websites.

In Tom’s brief time at Cali Bamboo, he has launched two new product categories and sub-brands for Cali Bamboo: Cali Vinyl and Cali Decking.

At Toshiba, Tom aged-down the average Toshiba retail buyer from 48 years old to 38 years old by improving brand awareness and likelihood to purchase with Millennials; all while maintaining customer loyalty with the older target. Additionally, Tom grew Toshiba’s Social Media channels from 30K fans to 1.5MM fans by producing cutting-edge viral videos – even winning a national Emmy Award for his social film, The Beauty Inside.

Before Toshiba, Tom led Marketing for Qwest. In his role, he spearheaded the repositioning of Qwest High-Speed Internet Services to consumers; driving record sales.

When not doing marketing for companies, Tom works on marketing Cure JM Foundation. Cure JM is a nonprofit organization Tom co-founded with his wife to find a cure for Juvenile Myositis (JM) and improve the lives of families affected by JM. Cure JM Foundation has raised over $14 million for medical research for a rare and life-threatening disease that strikes in childhood. Tom created the vision to launch this organization to find a cure and to better connect patients and their families with resources they need.

Tom has bachelor’s degrees in Journalism/Advertising and Mass Communications/Radio-TV-Film from the University of Wisconsin. He also has a master’s degree from the Annenberg School for Communications at the University of Southern California.

Tom lives with his wife and three sons in Encinitas, CA.
