Richard is a partner and solicitor advocate at Bristows LLP, a London based law firm serving innovative companies and industry leaders around the world. Richard specialises in IP disputes with a focus on patent litigation and the technology sector. A significant part of Richard’s practice involves disputes before the UK courts involving standard essential patents, FRAND and competition law based defences. Richard regularly coordinates litigation before the UK Courts with parallel proceedings in the USA, Europe and international patent offices, and advises on international enforcement and licensing strategy, freedom to operate, patent validity and the interaction of IPRs and digital media. Richard has a Master’s degree in engineering from the University of Oxford and his technical subject matter experience includes the telecommunications, computer hardware and software, engineering, digital security, human computer interaction and LED lighting sectors. In addition to LES, Richard is a member of AIPPI and EPLAW.
