Program Area Manager, European Patent Academy, EPO
Thomas Bereuter is programme area manager at the EPO’s Academy being in charge of training for businesses and their advisors. Before joining the EPO in 2013, he gained about 25 years’ experience in international technology commercialisation. Thomas has successfully managed international licensing and technology divestment deals, and has founded and supported innovative small and medium-sized companies as CEO, advisor, trainer and coach.
Thomas gained initial experience of technology commercialisation as an inventor, founding a venture-capital-backed start-up. Leading the technology transfer wave in Austria, he established an internationally recognised academic incubator as well as a university technology exploitation office.
He holds a master’s degree with distinction in biochemistry and is a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP). Thomas was active at LES in several functions, published over 40 peer-review publications, lectured at five universities and was a WIPO as well as EPO trainer.
